Overview: Let’s Sort Out The Environment
This part of the course invites the children to think about their interaction with the environment and uses the story Pete’s View to do so. Pete’s View is what would describe as “a thinking story”. This story, and the activities that accompany it, is intended to allow children to simply think about the environment and how we should behave towards the environment. This part of the course also uses the story Butterfly Blue to provide an avenue for children to learn that even though they are young children, they can still effect positive change in this world and make a difference to their own and other’s lives.
This part of the course includes reading and a comprehension plenary session, artwork (which includes jointly creating a tree mural, and recycling waste to create art) written work, story time, research and written work on endangered species.
